Martin School Primary in Boksburg requires a dynamic, hard working and passionate Occupational Therapist who is required to continue a practice based at the school. Hand Therapy position

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with proven hand therapy skills to join our team for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of becoming a part time post. A Diploma in hand therapy is a must with a  minimum of 2 years experience in hand therapy. The candidate must also be registered with HPCSA, SASHT, OTASA and have relevant medical protection cover.
The team consists of a two Occupational therapists and a practice administrator.
Our caseload consists primarily of soft tissue and bony trauma to the upper limb, as well as degenerative and repetitive strain injuries. The skills required to be successful with this application are: Assessment of the upper limb(which includes correct diagnosis) of both traumatic and non traumatic injuries. The candidate will also be required to read and interpret x-rays.
The candidate will also be required to communicate with allied health professionals and treating surgeons. The successful candidate must be proficient in sewing pressure garments for the upper limb and body.
As well as holding a clinical caseload, you would be expected to take on roles such as:  teaching of other staff members, service development which includes report writing, and assisting in the day-to-day running of the practice.
With regards to the practice, patients are referred  by either the Plastic Surgeons, Orthopaedic surgeons, General Practitioners as well as casualty from the relevant hospitals.

We are a hand therapy practice based in Grayston Drive in Sandton and work closely with doctors from Morningside, Sunninghill and Waterfall hospitals.
The position will be a salary basis
Working hours will be 7am-4pm daily and the position will be available from February 2012
