The British Institute seeks to address children's learning difficulties through a team of occupational therapists specialising in sensory integration therapy, speech therapists, psychologists and teachers.

Along with running its own school and afternoon therapy programme, the British Institute has a number of therapists working in schools in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai.

The British Institute provides Sensory Integration training for Occupational therapy staff in liaison with the South African Institute of Sensory Integration (SAISI).

The annual remuneration package (US $52,000-$58,700) is tax-free and includes:
    * Salary (US $30,000-$36,700 per annum-tax free)

· 6 weeks annual holidays

Port-au-Prince, Haiti: Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists
On January 12th 2010, a powerful earthquake (7.3 on the Richter scale) struck Haiti. It is estimated that 200’000 persons died and the number of injuries is increasing steadily. Although no precise figures are available, it is evident that the need is very high.

CBM is working in Haiti since about 30 years and supports five national partners. in various locations. The partners in Port-au-Prince have all been affected and are currently trying to plan their recovery.

In the aftermath of the earthquake it is estimated that more than 200’000 persons have been injured, and among them about 1/3 will potentially develop secondary disabilities. The lack of professional Physical Therapy in Haiti does not allow proper rehabilitation.

To prevent disability following serious injuries and to maximize the recovery capacity of persons with new disabilities through the provision of physical rehabilitation at hospitals and later community level, CBM’s International Office in Bensheim is accepting applications for

Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists
Location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Contract Duration: 6 months

Objective: The Physical Therapists/Occupational Therapists will provide, in collaboration with local partners, rehabilitation services at local hospitals and train local health staff as well as families of disabled persons in basic rehabilitation techniques.

Main Tasks:
· Identification and detection of persons with disabilities in local hospitals
· Coordination with local partners
· Provision of therapy
· Setting up of regular rehabilitation services at hospital level
· Training and sensitization of local hospital and health staff in basic rehabilitation

Professional Profile and Requirement
· min. 3 years of professional experience as PT/OT
· Knowledge of disability issues
· sound knowledge in orthotics and prosthetics
· Good reporting skills
· Proven good organisational skills as well as a high level of autonomy and flexibility

Personal Profile
· Intercultural knowledge and sensitivity
· Excellent inter-personal skills
· Team player and good communicator with a proven ability to motivate people
·  Overseas experience in a developing country
· Proven ability to perform and live in a multicultural working environment
· Good English (both oral and written); knowledge of French language is an added advantage
· Knowledge of Haiti and emergency work is a plus
