Advocacy

Occupational Therapy is a vital evidence-based health service that enables
people of all ages to live independently and participate fully in society
following rehabilitation and recovery.

OT reduces healthcare costs, shortens hospital stays and supports people
with disabilities, chronic and aging-related challenges.
Policy makers need to prioritize funding, inclusion in health programs, and
equitable access to occupational therapy services to all citizens.

In advocating for occupational therapy services, OTASA established its
Protocols and Rapid Reviews Project in 2023. Since then, the draft protocols
displayed here will undergo further refinement to include the ICHI and ICF
classifications.

This section therefore provides a snapshot.
