Reflection on the WFOT Congress, February 2026 by Lebo Lefine

Lebo Lefine, Lecturer in the Division of Occupational therapy, Sefako Makgatho University, South Africa

My name is Lebo Lefine, and I work at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in the field of Occupational Therapy Education.

Attending the WFOT Congress has truly reshaped my perspective, particularly in the area of community mental health. The insights shared, the stories exchanged, and the collective passion of practitioners from around the world have deepened my understanding of how powerful and transformative our role can be within communities.

As this was my very first Congress, it was an incredibly humbling and inspiring experience. My heart is full. Being surrounded by professionals who are so dedicated, innovative, and purpose-driven reaffirmed something I have always believed — I am part of the very best profession.

This conference did more than expand my knowledge; it reminded me that I am walking in my purpose. I leave feeling inspired, grounded, and more committed than ever to the meaningful work we do as occupational therapists.
